Taylor County School District offers several Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities for both secondary and postsecondary students. Courses and programs are offered at the middle school and high school, high school students can dual enroll at the District’s Technical College –

Big Bend Technical College (BBTC) and adult students can enroll in Career Certificate Programs at BBTC. The diverse Career and Technical Education programs help students improve their math, science, literacy and problem-solving skills. The students participate in programs resulting in postsecondary certificates or two- and four- year college degrees.

CTE programs afford Taylor County Students that opportunity to train for high skill, high wage, high demand careers.  CTE gives students what's needed to succeed for life: technical skills, academic skills and employability skills. CTE prepares students to be successful in a rapidly changing workforce and equip them to make informed decisions about future college and career pathways. CTE offers students opportunities to earn highly valued industry certifications and to develop a multitude of skills while experiencing rigorous curriculum with real world applications. CTE students who complete a Program of Study (3 courses or more in a single program) are eligible for many scholarships, including the Gold Seal Bright Futures Scholarship.

Students are also afforded the opportunity to join Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) such as FFA and SkillsUSA where students participate in leadership and develop life-long skills such as interpersonal relationships, teamwork, setting and achieving goals as well as competing in contests where they apply what they have learned in their respective CTE courses in real-world scenarios.
